Revocation unleash “Sarcophagi of the Soul”, Announce New Album New Gods, New Masters for September 26 Release

American technical death metal titans Revocation have officially returned with a blistering new single titled “Sarcophagi of the Soul”, the first taste of their upcoming full-length album New Gods, New Masters, set for release on September 26, 2025 via Metal Blade Records.

After a period of relative silence, “Sarcophagi of the Soul” reignites the flame of Revocation’s intricate and unrelenting sound. The track showcases frontman David Davidson’s signature guitar wizardry, combining complex riff structures with dark melodic phrasing, all wrapped in razor-sharp precision. Lyrically, it explores themes of inner decay, spiritual imprisonment, and the psychological aftermath of dogmatic belief systems.

From its opening moments, the track builds a suffocating atmosphere with dissonant arpeggios and polyrhythmic drumming, a reminder of why Revocation remain one of the most respected forces in the modern extreme metal landscape. The song marks a progression from their 2022 album Netherheaven, introducing even more apocalyptic grandeur and progressive brutality.

The upcoming album, New Gods, New Masters, promises to further expand the band’s sonic reach. Early reports hint at a conceptual work delving into the corrosion of power, mythology, and human sovereignty in a collapsing age. Davidson describes the record as “a requiem for the idea of salvation through control,” and says the band pushed themselves both technically and emotionally further than ever before.

Although the full tracklist has not yet been revealed, Metal Detector will be following every update closely. A North American and European tour is rumored to coincide with the release this fall, with more announcements expected in the coming weeks.

For now, “Sarcophagi of the Soul” stands as a commanding return to form and a warning shot of what’s to come. Fans of death metal, technical proficiency, and philosophical weight should keep September 26 marked in blood.

Stay tuned to Metal Detector for exclusive reviews, interviews, and coverage as we approach the unveiling of New Gods, New Masters.
