About Us:

Hey, what’s up! I’m Andrea, the mind behind Metal Detector, a webzine and community dedicated to the raw, uncompromising world of underground metal. Here’s a glimpse into my journey, the philosophy behind Metal Detector, and why this project exists.

I’ve never followed the conventional path. Since I was 20, I’ve been organizing black and death metal events, pushing boundaries, and giving underground bands the platform they deserve. That drive to discover, document, and elevate artists who operate outside the mainstream has always been my compass.

Metal Detector grew from that passion. With a background in graphic design and visual arts, I’ve built a space where every visual, every review, and every feature tells a story. It’s about more than music, it’s about atmosphere, authenticity, and connecting fans with the intensity and darkness that fuel this culture. Punk, goth, black, and death metal shaped me, and their influence runs through every piece of content we create.

At its core, Metal Detector is a community. It’s a hub of in-depth band reviews, exclusive interviews, and curated features that shine a light on artists who deserve recognition. It’s a place for fans and creators to connect, explore, and celebrate the underground together.

And yes, we do have merch, but it’s not just some shirts and stickers. Every piece is crafted with attitude, designed for those who live and breathe metal, for those who want to wear their allegiance to the underground scene proudly. It’s an extension of the culture we document, a way to carry the energy of the music into your everyday life.

We also have a soft spot for cats. My big dream is to one day create a shelter or sanctuary for them. Until then, Metal Detector supports local shelters here in California, making donations to help cats in need. Because underground doesn’t mean heartless.. we just live loud, unapologetic, and with a cause.

Metal Detector is about freedom, authenticity, and rebellion against the ordinary. It’s about preserving the spirit of underground metal, supporting those who can’t fight for themselves, and proving that passion, not trends, drives culture. I’m proud of what we’ve built, and we’re just getting started.

Keep exploring, keep supporting the underground, and never apologize for living on your own terms.

With love,

Andreanet
